Force of Nature Natalia (12A)

Details Information

Director: Gerry Fox

Starring: Natalia Osipova

Force of Nature Natalia follows a season in the life of our generation's most exciting prima ballerina, the Royal Ballet superstar Natalia Osipova. With Natalia’s permission, we get to see what it takes to be one of the greatest dancers alive today...the sheer determination, extraordinary drive, deep insight and creative energy that is required to succeed in all different genres of dance from classical and modern ballet at Covent Garden to dance theatre at QEH to contemporary dance at Sadler’s Well’s.

We are able to access her personal archive, follow her through rehearsals, and film preparations for new ballet commissions and her Royal Ballet season. We watch the rehearsal process of new ballet Mother by Arthur Pita, a new commission, Medusa, with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui for the Linbury Studio at the Royal Opera House, and watch Natalia in rehearsal for the Royal Ballet production of La Bayadere directed by the legendary Natalia Makarova. Natalia opens up about her life and history, her childhood in Russia, her time with American Ballet Theatre and her journey to the Royal Ballet.

It is a close and personal behind-the-scenes look at a year in the life of a real force of nature!
